Offline mode means that devices can continue to provide many functions even when not connected to the internet. This might happen intermittently when the WiFi connection drops, or intentionally if remote functionality isn’t required.

Limited functionality which is maintained offline (without the correct time*) include:

• Opening and closing the valve using the physical buttons
• Shutting the valve when there is a major alert (due to permanent thresholds)
• Ignoring the current event
• Cycling between two threshold configurations
• Purging regimes for Legionella control
• View realtime flow (via the LED)
• Set the maximum flow
• Freeze threshold

Additional functionality which is maintained offline (when there is the correct time*) include:

• Recording flow and consumption
• Shutting the valve when there is a major alert (due to dynamic thresholds based on time of the day)
• Shutting the valve when there is a major alert due to Holiday mode
• Opening and closing the valve at scheduled times as indicated in Shutoff Zones
• Exercising the valve at a particular hour

Functionality which is lost when operating offline includes:

• Email and SMS leak alerts
• Realtime monitoring of flow
• Remote valve operation
• Up-to-date graphs and analysis (e.g. learning modes)
• Over-The-Air updates

Note on the Real Time Clock

* The caveat for functionality which depends on the time and date is that power is maintained when switching from online to offline. When the device first connects, it retrieves the current time and time zone details then keeps these updated (including 10 years DST changes) even when offline, but must have power to do this. Without time, dynamic thresholds are disabled inside the device and instead the device uses its maximum threshold to detect leaks.
